Fees for business immigration, employment and family matters are quoted individually after a consultation, because the right figure depends on the facts. The ranges above may be exceeded where a case is unusually complex; we will always tell you before any additional cost is incurred.

VAT

Our fees for applicants making an initial entry application from outside the UK are not subject to VAT. In-country applications are not charged VAT unless the applicant holds permission to be in the UK with valid leave to remain at the time the work is carried out.

Hourly rate

Where a fixed fee is not appropriate.

Most of our work is agreed on a fixed fee basis, but some matters do not suit it. Where we work on time, our hourly rate for immigration work is £350 per hour plus VAT.

The number of hours a case needs varies with its circumstances, including whether it is a first application or an extension, the number of dependants, how clearly you meet the Immigration Rules, the volume of supporting documents, how promptly documents can be produced, whether translation is needed, and whether a Home Office interview is required.

What our fee includes

Taking your detailed instructions; advising on your options and the most appropriate application; advising on timelines and the requirements of the Immigration Rules, including how to overcome criteria you do not yet meet; considering your supporting documents and helping you obtain further evidence where necessary; preparing and submitting the application; advising on the outcome and any further steps; and, if a Home Office interview is required, clear advice and the possibility of us attending with you.

Not included: if the Home Office refuses the application, advice and assistance on any appeal is a separate matter with its own fee.

Disbursements

Third party costs, explained upfront.

Disbursements are costs payable to third parties, such as Home Office visa fees, and are in addition to our fees. You pay Home Office application fees directly; current amounts are published in the Home Office fees table. You may also need to pay the immigration health surcharge as part of your application; see the Government's healthcare information.

Where professional interpreters are needed, their costs typically range from £100 to £150 per hour including VAT; simple cases may need around 2 hours, complex matters 10 to 15. You are free to bring a friend or community member to interpret instead. If an independent expert report, for example medical evidence, would strengthen your case, we will tell you as soon as possible together with the likely cost. If we attend a Home Office interview with you, travel expenses are charged in addition.

Timescales

We cannot control or guarantee how long the Home Office takes to decide an application. Subject to prompt production of documents, we can normally submit applications within an average of 2 months of instruction, and we will tell you at the earliest opportunity if your case is likely to take longer. Once we know your circumstances we will give you a more precise estimate of both time and cost.
