What we do with your information.

Lawyery Limited is the data controller for personal data processed through this website and in the course of our legal work, registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under reference ZB548386. This page explains what we collect here, what we do with it, and what this website stores on your device.

This site sets no tracking cookies.

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies or third party tracking on this website. The only thing we store on your device is a single record of the choice you make on the cookie banner, so that you are not asked again on every page. That record is stored in your browser, not sent to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Two things on this site are loaded from other companies. Our typefaces are served by Google Fonts, and our booking button takes you to Acuity Scheduling. Neither sets a cookie on this site, but requesting a font or following a link discloses your IP address to that provider, who processes it under their own privacy terms. If you would rather not make those requests, do not click the booking link, and use a browser or extension that blocks external font loading.

Our leave a review page embeds a review form served from lawyery.online, another site we operate, so anything you submit there comes to us. The page also links out to Google if you would rather review us publicly; following that link takes you to Google, which processes your data under its own terms.

What we collect and why.

When you contact us

Email, telephone, booking

If you email us, call us or book a consultation, we hold what you tell us in order to respond and to assess whether we can act for you. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and, once you instruct us, performance of our contract with you.

When you become a client

Client files

We process the personal data needed to carry out your matter, including special category data and criminal offence data where your case requires it. Our lawful bases include performance of a contract, compliance with our legal obligations, and processing necessary for legal claims. Client communications are protected by legal professional privilege.

Who we share it with

Only where necessary

Depending on your matter this may include the Home Office, courts and tribunals, barristers, experts, interpreters, and our regulators and insurers. We use reputable IT and communications providers under written terms. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.

Artificial intelligence

Supervised use only

Where AI assists our work it runs through supervised infrastructure with a named solicitor responsible for the output. We do not put client material into unsupervised public AI tools, because doing so can compromise confidentiality and legal professional privilege.

What you can ask us to do.

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, and in some circumstances to have data erased or its use restricted, to object to processing, and to receive data in a portable form. Some of these rights are limited where we must keep records to comply with our professional and legal obligations, or where privilege applies.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we have the chance to put it right; our complaints procedure explains how.

Retention

We keep client files for the period required by our professional obligations and our insurers, which varies by matter type, and then destroy them securely. Enquiries that do not become instructions are kept only as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and to check for conflicts.
